A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever...

Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

My Review:

Legendary, by Stephanie Garber, definitely delivers! This book is full of plot twists and vivid characters. Donatella Dragna, Scarlett’s sister, is the main character of this book. I loved her in Caraval and I was delighted to find out she was leading this story. After escaping their father and his twisted world, the two sisters join the Caraval troupe and travel to Valenda. However, Donatella’s world isn’t completely risk-free. She made a deal with a criminal mastermind and now she has to pay. His requirement is for her to find Legend’s true name. The only way for her to find this information is to compete in Carval once again. She is thrown back into the game with realistic illusions and she doesn’t know who she can trust.

First, I want to start with the author’s amazing storytelling! Stephanie is magnificent at transporting you into a new world. I truly feel that I know these characters by heart. At the start of the first book, I thought Donatella was just an annoying little sister. Now, I see how delightful, cunning, and brave she is. I grew to like her and I found out how much she would risk to save the people she loves. Even though she was led on a trail of confusion and puzzles, she still kept going. And I was right there with her! After each second was another plot twist and I never knew what was real. Dante also had a bigger part in this book. Again, he was not my favorite in the first book but he did redeem himself in this one. His mysteriousness was captivating and his ever-changing storyline kept me hooked. However, there was one new face in this book that caught my eye! Jacks was so charming and even though he was the villain I couldn't help myself! Lastly, I will go over Julian and Scarlett’s appearance throughout the book. I felt as if they were not even there! The author gave them a meaningless storyline as an excuse as to why they weren’t involved in the book. I expected so much more and got so much less.

Overall, I loved this book! My only issue was with Scarlett and Julian’s involvement. I love their chemistry yet I wasn’t able to see anything in this book. Although, I have to admit that everything else made up for it! I felt as if I was right there with the characters throughout the book! I am going to rate this a 4.5/5 stars and I will get on top of reading Finale!
